Do you have a dream you would like to make a reality? Do you have a goal you want to achieve? What about the luxury car you’ve always wanted or your dream home? How would you like to have your ideal relationship, optimum health, success, prosperity, abundance? Do you want that? You can have whatever you desire simply by asking for it! The thing is; it’s the Law!  

Drop a pebble into a pond and watch the ripples radiating out. As the ripples meet the opposite shore, they begin their journey back to you. 

Everything is energy vibrating out into the Universe. Our bodies, the paper on which this article is written, our homes, the world around us - all energy, vibrating. Our thoughts, words and actions are energy ceaselessly moving outward from us. Ultimately the Universe, in kind, returns them to us – just like a ripple on the water. The Universal Law of Attraction states that energy attracts like-energy. If this is so, the energy created by our thoughts, words, actions and feelings creates similar energy that is sent back home to us. Given that, it would be fair to say, “You are what you think.” 

There is a process to attracting what you want into your life. The first step is to know what you want and ask for it. In the knowing and asking, you create an energy vibration to which the Universe responds. Know this though, the Universe does not distinguish between positive or negative; it is all just energy, and like-energy is the response. Simply stated, “I wish I didn’t have a headache” sounds positive enough, but what the Universe recognizes is headache not the fact you don’t want one! Perhaps your thought is “people pick on me because I am …,” and it is true. What if you changed that thought to “people appreciate me because I am …?” Which end result do you prefer to have in your life? 

So the first step is to ask for what you want; one time, from the heart and with passion. The second step is not your job at all. This is the answer to your wish. You don’t have to know or work out the how of it – that is the job of the Universe. If we worry about or try to orchestrate the how, we often muddy the waters. Just put your wish out there from your heart with passion and let the Universe bring it to you. 

The third step is receiving your wish. You have asked, the Universe has answered and sent it back to you. You job is to receive it by being open and matching your energy to your incoming wish. Being angry does not match a happy dream. You must be your wish, your heart’s desire. Actively imagine your life with the result of your wishing in your hands. Act as if what you have asked for is already yours and you will create the perfect conditions for your dream to come home to you – energy attracts like-energy. Remember to be grateful for what you already have and be patient, staying true to your dream. It will manifest for you in the right time.  

Have you ever noticed that those who speak often about being ill – are; or that the people who talk and act like they have everything their hearts desire – do? In both cases they have generated energy by their thoughts, words, actions, and feelings, sent that energy “out there,” and received back that which they generated in the first place. Like the ripples on the pond. 

Driving into town one day a familiar song started to play on the radio – “Tin Man” by America. I have heard the song many times; it came out in the 70’s and was part of my early adulthood. But did I really hear it? 

The lyrics “Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn’t, didn’t already have” struck me deep in my centre. It was a revelation! It fit with my truth as if custom made just for me. I have read and heard many variations of those words – that it is within us all and we merely have to quiet ourselves enough to be able to access whatever it is. 

I started to do some research, specifically about the Wizard of Oz and the symbology within the writing and the movie. Beyond the political symbolism of the time, I could see the Wizard attaching the heart-shaped timepiece to the Tin Man’s chest, presenting the Cowardly Lion with a medal of courage to wear around his neck, and giving the Scarecrow a diploma as evidence of the straw man’s superior brain. Other than trinkets, what did the Wizard really gave to this motley crew? He gave them self-recognition and empowerment, and with that, the confidence to be who and what they really were.  

But what of Dorothy? Her heart’s desire was to go home to Kansas. There were no trinkets for her in the Wizard’s bag. When asked what she had learned, Dorothy replied, “There is no place like home.” Glinda the Good told Dorothy she always had the power to get to her heart’s desire; she merely had to learn and trust it. The initial step to getting there is making the choice to take that step in the first place and then the next step appears as if by magic – a click of the heels.
